About Laura's Smile Foundation

Who is Laura David?

Laura David was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 23, in August of 2004, just three months after her wedding.  She underwent numerous treatments, including several surgeries, chemotherapy treatments and a stem cell transplant. She stayed strong through her faith in God and her positive attitude. Laura battled her cancer head-on with a smile that is unforgettable.

After a long, difficult battle, Laura passed away July 3, 2011.

Laura's Smile Mile began when family and friends wanted to support her and raise awareness about ovarian cancer. In doing so, the first annual Laura’s Smile Mile was organized in 2006.  It continues in Laura’s memory with the hope that through this awareness, Ovarian Cancer will someday no longer be called the “Disease that Whispers.” That someday families will no longer have to endure the loss of a sister, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt to this silent killer.

Together we can make a difference by raising awareness and paying tribute to those touched by Ovarian Cancer. And together we will do this with a huge SMILE!

As Winston Churchill once said,
"Attitude is a little thing that makes
a big difference."
