Team Spotlight: Inspired!

Last year we offered participants the opportunity to create teams. It was a success! In our first year we had 20 teams participate in Laura’s Smile Mile.  We featured several of those teams on our blog.  The teams shared amazing stories of memory, support and survival.  Below, is a story from a new team in 2013 that can “Inspire” us all. Teal Soccer Game for Awareness April 19

Laura’s Smile Foundation along with the Whitefish Bay High School Varsity Women’s soccer team will host a Teal Soccer Game For Awareness on April 19. The game will be held at Whitefish Bay High School, 1200 E Fairmount Ave in Whitefish Bay at 7pm.  The team will wear Teal, the official awareness color of ovarian cancer. Spectators can also wear teal, by buying a t-shirt designed by the team.  You can order the t-shirt by contacting Denielle Beilfuss via email denielledavid@hotmail.com or leave a comment on our blog or Facebook page. T-shirts will be $15 in advance and $20 at the game.

    Laura’s Smile Mile is set for its seventh annual event on Saturday June 1, 2013 on Milwaukee’s lake front at Veterans Park. The event is a 5K run/2 mile walk, along with a short run for children called the Giggle Gallop. It is sponsored by Laura’s Smile Foundation, an organization that supports ovarian cancer education and awareness. The event is dedicated to Laura David, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 23. LSF Volunteers: Whitefish Bay High School Soccer Team

One of our volunteers is coach Robert Williams and the Whitefish Bay High School soccer team. Robert tells us why this event is important to him. Soccer team supports LSM and raises awareness

Local soccer team raises awareness of Ovarian Cancer. Early this month the women’s soccer teams of Watertown High School held a game to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer. The Watertown players wore teal T-shirts to show their support.  The bleachers were filled with approximately 150 spectators who many of them also wore teal. Team Fitness Together is lead by Dawn Wilhelm. Dawn is the youngest sister of Laura David, the namesake of Laura’s Smile Foundation.
